Your Local Library

Your Local Library

Don’t forget about your library as an awesome resource in your homeschooling journey! I often would utilize my local library for books on topics that we were learning about at the time. I chose books that were written by authors that were obviously passionate about what we were learning about, and this would enrich our …

Unit Studies

Unit Studies were hands down my absolute FAVORITE way to teach my children. Because I taught all 4 of my boys at the same time, all at different grade levels, I really enjoyed utilizing a unit study approach as it was a great fit for multi-level teaching. Not only this, but unit studies like the ones I mention below foster a rich learning experience through reading classic books like The Little House On The Prairie Series.

Konos Unit Study

Konos Unit Study

Konos in a box is a great way to jump into unit studies for those who like to have everything included… as it says… in the box.

Thanksgiving Unit Study

Amanda Bennett has a number of unit studies. I believe this was the first unit study I ever did and it got me hooked on the notion of combining multiple subjects into a cohesive unit of study.  If you love early American history, you will probably really love this curriculum. It’s rich with resources that …

Five in a Row

Five in a Row

The five in a row series is amongst my top favorite unit studies for younger children. This one in particular is especially good for early elementary grades, as well as if you have younger children who aren’t yet in school. They will enjoy listening along too, a huge win for a busy mom.  Using a …

The Prairie Primer

If you love the idea of Unit Studies but are overwhelmed at the thought of piecing something together yourself, the Prairie Primer may just be exactly what you are looking for! Perfect for K-8th. Meet The Great Composers

Meet The Great Composers

A great way to expose your children to classical music, which has actually been proven to improve IQ. I know some moms who actually play classical music to their babies while they are still in the womb for this very reason. Typically, kids wouldn’t listen to classical music 🙂 ,  so this is a great …

Lambs Book of Art

This was my favorite art curriculum for my elementary age boys, that we could do at the kitchen table, or if it was a pleasant day, sit outside on the porch, which would help to increase their creativity.

Bible

You might not be a person of faith, but you are still very welcome here! I would be remiss not to put Bible into my resources, because for me and my family, it was a foundational part of our every day living. Not in a stuffy religious way, that’s a turn off for sure, but …

I used this for high school writing because it was friendly, straightforward teaching done through a DVD with a corresponding consumable workbook.
